Firenze Terrasse

Glorious day, late start in the ,lovely saturday dawn with a laundry stop followed by a tiramisu while drying.
The $2 all the way from Australia proved perfect for the Florentine pig which we saw twice. Botticelli after a long wait  proved glorious although the glass in front now is intimidating.
The Annunciation done so many times has a special impact when one imagines how unwilling a mother Mary is actually...Da Vinci makes sure the force of the Gods is apparent as in the Lippi version.
The long hall o f sculpted busts of roman ceasars caught my imagination as I wandered down the ages through the different hair styles. Hadrianus surprisingly hirsute for such a botanist and Domition such clean lines.
Looking forward to Trajanus' column when we get to Roma. we are always completely surrounded by tourists. the locals are tired tired tired of us all.
The toilets in the Office are simply archealogical and the pissoir is a wall of marble atopped with a further wall of water...most satisfying....
Amber ear rings for Sheila and a romantic terrasse top dinner for two rounded off a wonderful day.
we may stay another day to get the bikes clean after their Euro velo 7 experience and also to see the Palazzo Pittti....
